GIMBAL OVERLOAD ERROR

Should you renew the flat cable, do it yourself or have it repaired?

In DJI drones, especially the Mavic Pro series, the gimbal problem can usually be solved by renewing the so-called flat cable. This cable, also called ribbon cable, provides the (electrical) drive of the 3 gimbal motors.

Did the Mavic Pro crash? Then there could be more going on. As mentioned, the ribbon cable controls the gimbal motors, if a motor can't turn because the gimbal is bent and/or a motor has failed, the new ribbon cable won't be able to solve it.

Are you not getting an 'overload error' but the gimbal is not working as intended?
To make matters worse, the signal cable that runs to the Mavic Pro camera can also be broken. A tiny break in one of the extremely fragile wires is enough. Behind the camera lens is a sensor that helps center the gimbal. If the signal is missing, the gimbal will not be able to function normally.

Repair it yourself or have it repaired?
The choice is yours. Are you handy and do you have a lot of patience? Then take a look at YouTube. There are hundreds of videos that try to guide you through the DJI Mavic Pro gimbal repair. Buy multiple flat cables, there is a big chance that it will not go right the first time. Since you probably order a cable in China, you do not have to worry about the costs.

THIS IS HOW WE RENEW THE FLATCABLE OF YOUR DJI MAVIC

We recommend that you follow these steps when repairing.

1) USE DOUBLE SIDED TAPE
2) PROTECT THE FLATCABLE
3) LEAVE A DROP OF LIQUID RUBBER

1) Using very thin and flexible tape makes it easier to hold the flatcable in place, it also prevents direct contact with metal. Holds the cable in place. Prevents chafing.

2) The protection is necessary because the signal cable, the bundle of wires you see, is pressed onto the flat cable and is constantly moving. Wear and tear is the result.

3) A drop of rubber on the bottom of the corners will tighten the plugs during drying and prevent them from vibrating loose.

Replacing the DJI Mavic Pro flex cable is the obvious choice.

For us too, it was an endless fiddling around the first few times, and the 'example videos' didn't make us much wiser.
A gimbal problem is not always due to the flat cable, there are many other reasons why a DJI camera does not respond properly.
